How Zebras keep their cool

It is suggested that the stripes of a zebra disperse incoming heat, helping with thermoregulation. This means the black stipes absorb heat and the white stripes reflect the heat, so the zebra creates its own cooling air currents.

The UK is currently experiencing it's hottest day on record with highs of 40°C. If you don't have stripes to cool you down like Ziggy, remember to stay indoors/in the shade where possible and drink lots of water!
